ROYAL ALMANACH, for the year 1700, without... - Lot 5 - Giquello
ROYAL ALMANACH, for the year 1700, without bissexts, exactly calculated on the Paris meridian. Paris, Laurent d'Houry, s.d. [1700]. In-8, soft vellum, framed in Du Seuil style, central medallion bearing the date 1700, smooth spine decorated with small fleurs-de-lis arranged one above the other, gilt edges (period binding). Very rare first year of the Royal Almanac (Grand-Carteret, n°91). In this year 1700, the royal almanac gives indications on the weather, the lists of the Royal Finances, the King's Council and the Chancellery with the names of the State Councillors and their residences, the Sessions and vacations of the Courts, the Streets & residences of the Messengers with the day of their departure, an alphabetical List of the Posts, the most important Fairs of the Kingdom, etc. There are also two small folding tables and two pages for the tariffs of the ecus and the louis d'or. A nice copy, preserved in its first gilt soft vellum binding. From the library of Bruno Monnier, at the castle of Mantry in the Jura (bookplate).
