Les Instructions de saint Dorothée, Père de l'Église grecque, et Abbé d'un Monastère de la Palestine, traduites de Grec en François. Paris, François Muguet, 1686. In-8, olive morocco, triple gilt fillet, spine decorated, the caissons charged with a fleur-de-lis and a small piece of arms (anchor) repeated in the corners, inner lace, red morocco lining with gilt coat of arms in the center, gilt edges (Early 18th century binding). First edition in French, translated by Armand de Rancé (1626-1700), famous reformer of the abbey of La Trappe. A fine copy, having belonged to Louis-Alexandre de Bourbon (1678-1737), Count of Toulouse, legitimized son of Louis XIV who appointed him Grand Admiral of France, an honorary office whose insignia (a single anchor, and two anchors tied with a ribbon) are stamped in the lining and in the spine boxes. On the title, wet stamp of the library of King Louis-Philippe at the Royal Palace. From the library of the Count of Lignerolles (I, 1894, n°127). Top cover restored, dark spots on the second cover, spine a little faded.
