Théophile GAUTIER (1811-1872)
L.A.S., [March 26, 1855], to his "dear Apollonie" [Madame SABATIER]; 1 page small in-8. Erotic letter to the "President." "Dear Apollonie Do you want to go tonight to the benefit of the Borghi-Mamo [the singer Adelaide Borghi-Mamo (1829-190100)] - you can have the dressing room entirely. Ernesta [GRISI] will roam the theater and just say hello. I love you, O president, and I wish you that your kidneys become suitable again for the gymnastics of the rump clamp - alas! He adds in postscript: "The Ernesta who has just read this bill asks for a place but go straight and do not worry about her. She will go her own way and after rubbing her backside at the corner of the wings she will go up to you. She asks for Elisa [Mrs. Bressant] to tribad with her in piles of rags". Ernesta Grisi finally adds: "Elise for tomorrow if it is possible". A letter from a certain Armand (?) offering this autograph and commenting on it is attached.
