Shiva Cambodia, Baphuon style, 11th century... - Lot 32 - Giquello
Shiva Cambodia, Baphuon style, 11th century H. 147 cm. Beige sandstone Shiva is depicted standing with his legs slightly bent. He is bare-chested and wears a necklace with pendants that fall down the back, a short pleated sampot that rises high above the hips, and a belt that is tight around the waist and holds a fan-shaped piece of clothing at the back. The face of the Buddha is serene, the eyes almond-shaped, the lips joined, the hair pulled back in a bun on the top of the head. The large size and strong presence of this Shiva make it an exceptional piece. Restorations visible on the left arm, the left leg and the neck. Provenance: 2006-2022.
