Signed Unique piece 63 x 31 x 17 cm Provenance : Artist's studio Exhibition : Siena Workshops,2010 Born in Russia in 1912, Mara VOSLINSKAIA attended the academies of Venice, Florence and Naples and then in 1937 the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp. She works under the direction of the painter Opsomer. In 1939, Mara Volinskaya left Antwerp for Riga and did not leave the Soviet Union until 1960. These years of suffering and deportation impregnated her message with fear, anguish and anxiety without ever reaching revolt. Back in Belgium in 1960, she exhibited for the first time in 1961 in Brussels. She works intensely and travels. She exhibited a lot with success and excelled in the field of portraiture. She painted landscapes of Brittany or the French Riviera, a "Fish Market" in Ostend or the Bridge of Sighs.
