Amsterdam, Vefve & Héritiers de Judocus Janssonius, 1656. 2 parts in one small volume in-folio, granite calf, triple gilt fillet, gilt coat of arms in the center, spine decorated, red edges (Binding of the time). Borba de Moraes, t. I, p. 167. First edition of the French translation, decorated with an allegorical frontispiece, a portrait of the prince of Nassau and 34 copper-engraved plates, mostly double-page, representing maps, city views and scenes of naval battles. Relation of the events of the history of Holland from 1625 to 1647, period during which Prince Frederick of Orange-Nassau was in the service of the States General of the United Provinces as stathouder. The conquest of the north of Brazil plays a very important role. Copy with the arms, not identified. Tears without missing 2 plates, one double plate a little short in the margins. Some wetness, especially in the bottom of the last quires. Spine restored.
