Marini, pp. 108-109. First edition of this treatise on fortifications by Jean du Breuil (1602-1670), son of a Parisian bookseller, who practiced the same trade as his father before joining the Society of Jesus. Frontispiece and 4 full-page figures engraved on copper by Le Pautre, and numerous engravings on copper (geometric figures and plans of fortifications) included in the pagination. Old handwritten bookplate, crossed out, on the soiled title page. Staining and soiling to a few leaves. Small restoration to the first 4 leaves and to the vellum.
