René Magritte. Autograph poem of 20 verses in ink. 1 page in-4 on lined paper (creased sheet, slight folds and small tears). [1935]. Framed. The poem appeared in 1935 in the n°5-6 of the Cahiers d'Art and will be included in various collections including Les Yeux Fertiles (G.L.M, 1935), in the catalog of the René Magritte exhibition in New York, Julien Lévy Gallery in January 1936, then in the catalogue of the René Magritte exhibition, paintings, surrealist objects in Brussels, Palais des Beaux-Arts, April-May 1936 Paul Eluard and René Magritte met in June 1940 in Carcassonne at the home of Joë Bousquet. In 1941, Magritte illustrated two drawings Moralité du Sommeil, then in 1946, Les Nécessités de la vie and Les Conséquences des rêves. Eluard will dedicate a second poem to Magritte, in Voir (1948) : To René Magritte.
