Henri REGNAULT (1843-1871)
Orpheus in the Underworld Oil on cardboard, signed with initials in the lower right corner 20 x 28,5 cm In April 1865, Henri Regnault competed for the second time for the Prix de Rome, the subject of which was "Orpheus asking Eurydice back to the infernal gods". Our sketch is very different from the final composition of this painting kept in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Calais, but it could be a first thought or research for this subject.
