BLACAS d'Aulps Pierre-Louis duc de (1771-1839). Ministre et favori de Louis XVIII.
L.A.S. (for duplicate) to the President of the House. Vérignon en Provence, August 22, 1830. 2 pp. bifeuillet in-4. Historical letter, original of the superb political manifesto of the former minister, defending the claims of the legitimist party to the Throne of France, and refusing as Peer of France the allegiance to the July Monarchy, "Far from Paris of more than two hundred leagues at the time of the disastrous events which penetrated of pain the soul of all the good French, I deeply regretted to have been able to find myself in these disastrous circumstances, neither near the King my august master, nor at the session of the House of Peers, where it was a question of deliberating to know if the throne was vacant: this great question could not present doubts since according to our fundamental laws, as long as there are descendants of St. Louis, the Throne of France belongs to them [...]". He protests against the measures taken by a minority chamber and contrary to the rights of the King and the House of France "I will always remain faithful to my feelings, to my principles and to my motto pro Deo pro Rege [...]". He asks the President to make his declaration public by ordering its deposit in the archives of the House.
