Palau mentions another one, in a modern binding, that of Baron Seillière (cat. 1890, n° 620). French adaptation of a famous Spanish novel from the end of the 15th century, based on the Italian version of 1521, perhaps by Lelio Manfredi. The French text, first published in 1527, was constantly reprinted until the beginning of the 17th century and published under these different titles: Le Jugement d'amour or Histoire d'Aurelio et Isabelle, the Spanish title being La hystoria de Grisel y Mirabella. The author of this translation could be Jean Beaufilz, whose motto "Plaisir fait vivre" is printed on the title page. The Messagier d'amour, one of the most beautiful French poems of the 15th century, composed in 1489, is the second work in this volume. These two texts have been put together at the time in a binding with an embossed decoration of two medallions representing the heroes of the novel.
