Mumuyé statue Nigeria Wood H. 93 cm Provenance : Reportedly acquired from Haroua in 1970 Roland Grillot, Director of Renault factories for West Africa Galerie Pierre Robin, Paris, acquired 2002 Collection Monsieur X. Mumuyé ancestor statue featuring a stylized human figure. The powerful sculpture is organized around a cylindrical trunk from which broad shoulders and pelvis emerge. The head is slightly turned, and the arms and legs are off-axis, imparting a dynamic attitude. The details of the face, highlighted in white and set in a head surmounted by an enveloping headdress, are treated with finesse.
