COLLECTION MONSIEUR X. Dan spoon Ivory Coast Wood H. 44 cm Provenance Monsieur X Collection. This wakemia spoon ("feasting spoon"), which belonged to the most hospitable woman in the village, was brandished during festivals and was used to divide the food distributed to guests. The spoon has a flared quadrangular shape. The long handle is decorated at the end with a small head with a ringed neck. It is covered with a deep old patina.
