Kota reliquary figure, Gabon Wood, brass, copper H. 56 cm Provenance: brought back in the 1940s by Monsieur C., colonial administrator in Gabon, then by descent into the family. A fine example belonging to group 21 according to the classification established by F. and A. Chaffin in their reference work (L'art Kota, les figures de reliquaire, 1979), in which a figure very similar to ours is reproduced (p. 251, item 148), now in the collection of the Musée du Quai Branly Jacques Chirac.
