Tzara (Tristan) - Lot 99
Tzara (Tristan) L'Homme approximatif. Signed corrected proofs. 161 pages, mounted on tabs, in softcover. Fourcade, Paris, 1931. Box by Devauchelle. First edition (24.5 x 19.3 cm). The very first complete corrected and annotated proofs of one of Surrealism's major poetic works, with contemporary mailing to Louis Marcoussis. "To Louis Marcoussis Ces épreuves n ° 1 avec l'amitié n° 1 de Tzara [small drawing of a flower] April 16, 1931". Tristan Tzara and Louis Marcoussis were close friends, and the poet gave the painter one of the extremely rare first copies of L'Homme approximatif with the engraving by Paul Klee. The present proofs are the first. They include numerous handwritten annotations by Tzara for the layout and presentation of the work, as well as interesting corrections to the text. Provenance: Louis Marcoussis; Paul Destribats.
