The sale of the Duc de Tallard's collections was one of the most important of the 18th century. The catalog includes a large section of "dessins en feuilles" and prints. Its editor, Pierre Rémy, was Gersaint's successor. He has enlisted the services of Jean-Baptiste Glomy, both of whom write a remarkable foreword. The title page bears the words "Catalogue raisonné": the list of works is accompanied by biographical details on their creator, which had previously been left to the end of the volume.
