Comb paper boards, bradel spine Ange-Laurent de La Live de Jully (1725-1779) was one of the greatest connoisseurs of the 18th century. He was the brother of the Comtesse d'Houdetot, Saint-Lambert's mistress and Rousseau's famous correspondent. La Live de Jully himself corresponded with the author of Emile. Through his second marriage in 1762, he also became the brother-in-law of Jean-Joseph de Laborde, court banker and owner of Château de Méréville. La Live was also one of Greuze's main patrons; his portrait, painted by Greuze, is in the Kress Collection at the National Gallery in Washington. BIBLIOGRAPHY : C.
