Jean-Baptiste du Barry (1723-1794) was the first lover of Jeanne Bécu, who became Countess du Barry by marrying her brother, Guillaume du Barry. He was able to make substantial profits from the royal mistress, enabling him to assemble one of the finest art collections of the 18th century. The collection was sold by his son, Viscount Adolphe du Barry. The Musée du Petit Palais owns a copy illustrated with original drawings by Gabriel de Saint-Aubin.
