EXEMPLAIRE FROM THE LIBRARY OF FRANZ I, COUNT OF ERBACH-ERBACH ORIGINAL EDITION. A French edition of the book appeared simultaneously in Florence, under the title Dissertation sur les Statues appartenantes à la Fable de Niobé, but the work was never republished.
In-folio (465 x 360 mm). Text in Italian, engraved vignette on title page, copper-engraved initials and headbands by Campiglia. Dedication to Leopold I, Grand Duke of Tuscany.

ADDED ILLUSTRATION:
1 additional engraved plate, not required in this edition, but part of the same series of engravings: it bears an identical numbering in Roman numerals, this one "XXI". It is signed in the plate by Campiglia and depicts the statue of Endymion. Three lines of captions in ink, in a contemporary hand, appear at the bottom of the plate; 1 double plate with two engravings, one by Carlo de Lasinio, a study for a fresco. It bears the wet stamp "Erbach" in the margin.
CONTEMPORARY WAITING BINDING. Soft bis paper boards with flaps, stamped in ink on spine label, untrimmed.
