CONTEMPORARY BINDING. Marbled calf, gilt decoration, framed by a roulette, spine decorated, speckled edges. Binding rubbed, missing upper headpiece. This is the estate of Charles-Jean-François de Malon de Bercy (1779-1809) and his sister Alexandrine-Charlotte-Marie de Malon de Bercy (1781-1808). Very detailed liquidation including, among other things, the Bercy estate, where ninety-six different farmers paid rent. In 1807, Alexandrine-Charlotte married Christian de Nicolaÿ (1777-1839), Marquis de Goussainville. Her second son, Gabriel de Nicolaÿ (1808-1878), was the last Marquis de Bercy and the ultimate owner of Château de Bercy, before it was completely dismantled.
