Mottling on upper boards
Claude-Henri Watelet (1718-1786) was appointed Receiver General of Finances by his father. This enabled him to devote himself fully to the arts. He contributed most of the Encyclopédie's articles on drawing, painting and sculpture. His catalog includes works by such renowned artists as Poussin, Boucher, Rubens and Rembrandt, among many others.
