LESSING, Julius, et Adolf BRÜNING. - Lot 188
LESSING, Julius, et Adolf BRÜNING. Der Pommersche Kunstschrank herausgegeben. Berlin, Ernst Wasmuth, 1905. 1 folio volume. Numerous photogravures, serpents with captions. Publisher's cream cloth with gilt titling. This remarkable work is dedicated to the cabinet containing numerous curiosities that the Augsburg merchant and diplomat Philipp Hainhofer had built for the Duke of Pomerania Philip II in the early 17th century. The "cabinet" was destroyed during the Second World War, but many of the objects it contained were protected in its drawers.
