Djimini Pulley Ivory Coast Wood H. 16 cm Elegant Djimini loom pulley featuring a stylized human face. Dominated by a sugarloaf headdress adorned with gadroons and surmounted by a bird's head, the face is set in a triangle. The rounded forehead overhangs large, half-closed eyes, the nose is straight and the quadrangular mouth is framed by a series of horizontal scarifications. Beautiful patina attesting to prolonged use. See Goldwater (1964, p. 102, fig. 153) for a comparable example from the Harold Rome collection.
