Lobi statue - Lot 38
Lobi statue Burkina Faso Wood H. 60.5 cm Provenance : - O'Byrne Collection, Paris Interesting statue of a figure seated on a kind of chair, one arm at his side, the other folded over his torso. The totally naked figure is wearing a European kepi, which could be a representation of the famous kepi of colonial medicine, associated for the Lobi with Doctor Jules Le Rouzic, known for his vaccination campaigns against sleeping sickness in the 1930s and to whom a veritable cult was dedicated.
