Bamiléké jar Cameroon Terracotta H. 46 cm Provenance : - Alain Javelaud Collection Magnificent terracotta jar in the shape of the large calabashes usually used by the Bamiléké to transport water, palm wine and other liquids. The handle, which on these gourds is normally made of woven rattan, has been molded into the mass. The whole piece is covered with beautiful engravings depicting abstract motifs. Superb patina. The base is slightly missing.
