Anthropomorphic figure Abelam population, Maprik region, Papua New Guinea Light wood and pigments H. 35.5 cm Stylized anthropomorphic figure whose head, inscribed in a rectangle, is adorned with two curved horns representing the tusks of a wild pig. Red and white paint decorate the body and face. This carved wooden figure is reminiscent of the kara-ut braided ornaments worn in the mouth by warriors from the Maprik region. Condition report: Minor wear and scratches
