ARTAUD Antonin
AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED to Georges MALKINE. Mexico City, March 3, 1936. 2 pages in-4 in ink, retained envelope (traces of folds). Letter addressed from the French Legation in Mexico City to his friend, the painter Georges Malkine. ... The Minister of France is helping me with all his might; he introduced me to the ministers in astonishing terms. I gave three lectures at the University of Mexico, and after the first one, the university cleared out, but some government people laughed at the university's terrors. You can do anything in this country... after a first terrible effort I'm thinking of coming to France for a rest around summer or autumn.... I'll leave again. Artaud encloses an article dedicated to him from the magazine "Todo", 2 pages in-4, and specifies in an autograph note: "I had quoted Georges Malkine and I did not say that I was being followed and that we were thinking at the same time. On the back of the envelope is a pencil sketch of a face by Malkine
