In-4, brown morocco, broad mosaic historical frame on both covers with fantastical elements: winged diabolical head, various plants including holly and a nude woman with a snake coiled around her set against a starry sky at the top and bottom of the composition, mosaic spine, caramel morocco lining adorned with a mosaic border of violet or finely gilded flowers, brocaded silk endpapers, gilded edges on witnesses, cover and spine, half-maroquin folder, case (G. Levitzky). 40 original etchings by Lobel-Riche, including the frontispiece portrait and 20 hors-texte. Edition of 300 copies. One of 12 copies on japon or vélin, this one on vélin, containing a triple suite of illustrations, with remarks, in color and in black, before the letter for the hors-texte, with the letter for the headpieces and the culs-de-lampe. The copy is further enriched by a suite of five unused plates in three states, including two with remarks. Luxuriant binding by Grégoire Levitzky.
