BELVILLE (Eugène). Le Bouquet de mauvaise herbe. Paris, H. Floury, 1906. Large in-8, tinted fawn calf, the first plate decorated with a large, lightly modeled composition with gold dotted background parts, smooth spine with gilt title throughout, cold-stamped lettering in a corner of the second plate, double gilt fillet, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine, slipcase (Binding of the period). Edition decorated with black compositions by Henry Morin, the text printed in various Art Nouveau-style color frames bearing Eugène Belville's logo. Edition of 225 numbered copies on Arches laid paper. Charming leather binding, unsigned. On the second cover, the cold-engraved inscription indicates the binding's date of completion, 1909: Eadem libro manus vitam dedit et vestimentum MCMIX. The Musée des Arts Décoratifs owns the same work in a binding by Eugène Belville quite similar to this one, acquired from the artist in 1906. Upper hinge and one jaw cracked and very fragile, rubbing to spine.
