HARAUCOURT (Edmond).
L'Effort. The Madonna. Antichrist. Immortality. The End of the World. Paris, Les Bibliophiles contemporains, 1894. In-4, bradel brown half-maroquin with corners, fillet, spine decorated with a repeated skull and crossbones, untrimmed, cover and spine (E. Carayon). This work, a perfect example of Art Nouveau, is illustrated on each page with a color composition organized around the text. Each of the four stories is illustrated by a different artist using a particular technique: 18 original color lithographs by Alexandre Lunois for La Madone, 38 line-engraved and watercolored compositions by Eugène Courboin for L'Antéchrist, 33 compositions by Carloz Schwabe for L'Immortalité, including 10 in black engraved by Auguste Massé and 23 large watercolored floral frames, and 46 symbolist drawings by Alexandre Séon for La Fin du monde. The magnificent cover, illustrated on both sides, is signed by Léon Rudnicki. Edition of 180 copies on vellum. Spine faded.
