LEGRAND (Louis). Cours de Danse Fin de siècle. Paris, E. Dentu, 1892. Large in-8, garnet morocco, on each cover a large mosaic floral branch along the spine and an arched garland of red bells, green morocco lining decorated with a play of fillets, including a double fillet in loops with mosaic foliage and flowers in the corners, brocaded silk endpapers, gilt edges, cover and spine, case (Marius Michel). First edition of this work on the French cancan by Érastène Rodrigo (Eugène Rodrigues-Henriques). Superb illustration by Louis Legrand, comprising 11 plates, including a frontispiece, etched in black, 23 vignettes, ornaments and woodcut lettering in color. Edition of 350 copies: this one on japon impérial (edition numbered 49) with 2 suites of etchings, one on vellum and the other with remarks on bistre borders, and bearing a dispatch to Conquet: le plus pudique des éditeurs cordial souvenir d'un ex et futur édité, this dispatch on the false-title accompanied by an original drawing of a small rat. The copy also contains a suite of all the woodcuts in color, the engraving of the specimen and an offprint on japon. Spine slightly faded.
