Paris, De l'Imprimerie de Cellot, 1768. 7 volumes in-8, marbled calf, triple gilt fillet, ornate smooth spine, red and havana titles, gilt edges (period binding). Famous edition illustrated by Gravelot, including a portrait engraved by Gaucher, after Santerre, and 12 figures by Gravelot engraved by Duclos, Flipart, Lemire, Lempereur, Levasseur, Née, Provost, Rousseau and Simonet. A beautifully bound copy of the period. Armorial bookplate engraved H. Trouchin. The titles of volumes VI and VII are addressed to London. One double leaf erroneously bound in volume V, between pp. 130-131. Some quires slightly foxed. Small wetness on folio O2 of volume IV with discharge on the facing engraving. Small and skilful restoration to spines and headpieces, the tomaison piece in volume IV is a different color from the others, but period.
