SAINT-AMANT (Girard de).
The Works. Part One. - Suite de la première partie. Paris, Toussainct Quinet, 1642. - Le Passage de Gibraltar, caprice héroïcomique. Paris, Toussainct Quinet, 1641. - Les Œuvres. Seconde partie. Paris, Toussainct Quinet, 1643. Together 4 parts in one volume in-4, marbled calf, triple cold fillet, ornate spine, red title page, interior roulette, red edges (18th century binding). Partly first edition of the Œuvres. Le Passage de Gibraltar had already appeared separately in 1640. Following the second part of the Œuvres were bound the following 2 rare pieces: Caprice, a very free poem (6 pages), and the Epistre heroï-comique à Monseigneur le Duc d'Orléans lors que son Altesse Royale estoit au Siège de Gravelines (22 pages and a privilege leaf, without the title page). Antique calf copy, a little short of margins, the binder's knife sometimes touching running titles and headlines. Early handwritten bookplate on first title. Freckling on a few leaves, small worm gallery at the bottom of 5 leaves at the beginning of the second part of the Œuvres. Fine restoration to binding.
