Large in-8, red grosgrain chagrin, bold and lean double fillet, large plate comprising a frame of fleurons and interlacing, and a large diamond-shaped fleuron with multiple interlacing and a medallion in reserve, spine decorated with boxes framed with interlacing fillets and irons and a central square in reserve, interior lace, gilt edges (Period binding). First edition, decorated with a frontispiece, 23 engravings and numerous illustrations in the text engraved after Célestin Nanteuil, Marckl, Demoraine, etc., in first printing. Beautiful period binding in the Italian style, unsigned. From the library of Dr. Roudinesco (I, 1967, no. 14). Aureole of wetness on a few rare leaves.
