LA FONTAINE (Jean de) Fables. Paris, De l'Imprimerie de Didot l'aîné, 1787. 2 volumes in-18, lemon morocco, triple gilt fillet, small corner finial, smooth spine grotesquely decorated, olive-green title-pieces, dominoté paper lining and endpapers with gilt stars, gilt edges (Period binding). Edition on wove paper, part of the Collection des auteurs classiques français et latins published and printed by Didot for the education of the Dauphin. A delightful copy in lemon morocco. The dominoté paper comes from the workshop of Johann Michael Munck, a major manufacturer of dominoté paper active in Augsburg between around 1730 and 1760. Some light foxing, minor scuffing on one plate.
