A rare first edition of one of the writer's earliest short stories.
It was published in the only surviving issue of the Revue de Caen, a short-lived journal launched by Barbey d'Aurevilly and his friend Trebutien with the ambition of continuing the social movement begun in 1789 and continued in July 1830, and to break away from the political and literary centralization exercised by the capital to the detriment of provincial towns.
