First edition of Le Cachet d'onyx, based on the complete manuscript of the original text acquired by the Musée Barbey d'Aurevilly in 1992, thus providing a reliable and complete text of a short story that heralded Les Diaboliques. There are significant differences with the version published in 1919. Written at the age of 23, this early work was never published during Barbey's lifetime. Edition of 300 numbered copies on Lana, the first copy being no. 1. The two plates are preserved in a modern orange half-maroquin folder and slipcase.
