Small dhal shield Steel with gold and silver damascened decoration, velvet Punjab, probably Sialkhot, 19th century D. 23.2 cm (Some wear, worn velvet) This shield with gold and silver damascened decoration was made using the koftgari technique. It features an abundant vegetal decoration of palmettes and medallions. The flower-shaped bosses are also damascened. A frieze of half-mandorels in relief decorates the shield's perimeter. Red velvet has been applied to the inside of the object, and two fabric ties are attached to the metal grip rings.
