Rare walnut panel carved in high relief and polychromed, depicting Aaron. Dressed in the long robe of the high priest and wearing a turban, he holds a staff in his left hand and a cartouche on his head surrounded by three cherubs in the other. On his chest he wears the rational, a gold plate decorated with twelve cabochons symbolizing the twelve tribes of Israel; on the cartouche is the five-pointed star, a pentagram symbolizing the Pentateuch, surrounded by partially illegible inscriptions (EXODVS / LEVITE / GENESIS / NUMERI / DEUTERONOMII ?). Second half of the 16th century H. 52.4 cm (a few accidents and missing parts, notably the lower part)
