Turned and carved ivory jug, lid with spinning top. Germany, Dresden, entourage of Georg Wecker (circa 1550- 1622/26), late 16th/early 17th century H. 15.5 cm - Weight: 218.3 g (slight cracks) While not reaching the technical prowess of the turned ivory masterpieces prized at the court of Dresden, this jug appears to be the only shaped piece of its kind. It displays the purity of line and delicacy of workmanship of pieces from the workshop of Georg Wecker, who worked for Prince-Elector Augustus I of Saxony.
