Rare and important head of an Infant Jesus in ivory carved in the round with traces of red highlights for the lips. Round face with full cheeks, almond-shaped eyes bordered by hemmed eyelids, blunt nose, well-defined mouth and ears, heavy chin.
Hispano-Philippine, 17th century
H. 9.6 cm - Weight : 494 g (small accidents and missing parts, notably the nose)
Typical of the Hispano-Philippine school is the creation of ivory heads and hands for religious figures dressed in vestments. Alongside heads of Virgins, Saints and Saints, this Child's head appears to be the only known example of this production.
