Elephant spice mill in turned, engraved and stamped iron and monoxyl boxwood. Cubic receptacle fitted with a metal disgorger and crank handle resting on a turned foot with spherical knot and octagonal base; decorated with rosettes and small stars. Southwest France, late 16th/early 17th century H. 19 cm (accidents, missing parts and restorations, including replaced handle) A comparable model given as 17th century is preserved in the Musée de Brive-la-Gaillarde (see Objets civils et domestiques, Paris, 1987, p. 77 n°375).
