Bridle bit Germany, mid-16th century H. 24 cm - L. 15 cm Partially gilded iron curb bit Germany, mid-16th century H. 9 7/16 in - l. 5 7/8 in 564 CH Partially gilded iron curb bit with engraved geometric and vegetal ornaments. Broken mouthpiece with escaches and rings. Angled branches ending in fleurons, with holes for the missing spacer chains. A fixed gilded spacer, with molded ornament in the center, connects the rein ring reels (perhaps a secondary modification replacing the chains). Openable combs for changing the mouthpiece, closed with square screws for attaching the bosses. A curb chain hook is attached to the dexter bridle. Good condition, partial gold wear.
