La Pratique universelle de l'arpenterie..., contenant l'explication de parfaitement Mesurer, Arpenter, Toiser, Aulner & prendre le plant de la superfice [sic] de tous corps & figures de telles formes qu'ils soient. Paris, Henry Thierry, 1585. In-4, granite half-calf with small vellum corners, ornate spine, red title page (modern binding in the old taste). First edition, with figures in the text, of this treatise by Jacques Chauvet, a mathematician of Champagne origin who died at the very beginning of the 17th century. Handwritten bookplate on title dated 1681, partly crossed out, of a geography student.
