COLLADO (Luis). Prattica manuale dell'artiglieria. Milan, Girolamo Bordoni and Pietromartire Locarni, 1606. In-4, limp vellum, title in ink on spine (contemporary binding). Second edition in Italian, with 16 woodcut plates, most of them folding, and figures in the text (Cockle, no. 668). A major treatise on artillery by Luis Collado, a Spanish engineer attached to Philip II's army in Italy: the work originally appeared in Venice in 1586, and a Spanish translation was printed in 1592. Armorial bookplate Henri de Broise and bookplate dated 1920 general Taufflieb. Light foxing and small wetness in the margins of a few leaves, wetness on the last three leaves. Crack at the bottom of the last leaf. Edges of last 15 leaves and second cover a little nibbled. Small loss of vellum on one spine.
