COLLOT D'HERBOIS (Jean-Marie). Le Bon angevin ou l'Hommage du Cœur, comedy in one act, mingled with Songs & Vaudevilles, & followed by an entertainment. Composed in honor of Monsieur, Frère du Roi, Duc d'Anjou. First performed at the Théâtre d'Angers, on June 19, 1775, the day of the inauguration of the Portrait de Monsieur. Angers, C. Billault, Imprimeur de Monsieur & de la Ville, 1775. In-8, marbled basane, smooth spine decorated, red edges (period binding). First edition, printed at the expense of the city of Angers. Actor and playwright, Collot d'Herbois (1750-1796) became a deputy and then president of the Convention, and contributed to the fall of Robespierre. The copy bears the bookplate of Guillaume Bodinier (1795-1872), a little-known painter from Angers who was the subject of a retrospective exhibition at the Musée des Beaux-Arts d'Angers in 2011.
