COURTONNE (Jean). Traité de la perspective pratique, with remarks on architecture. Paris, Jacques Vincent, 1725. In-folio, marbled basane, double cold fillet, ornate spine, red title page, red edges (contemporary binding). First edition, with a handsome copper-engraved frontispiece by Lucas after Courtonne and 33 folding plates. (Fowler, no. 94.) In the early 1720s, the architect Jean Courtonne (1671-1739) built the Hôtel de Matignon and the Hôtel de Noirmoutier (today the residence of the Prefect of Paris) in Paris, whose plans and elevation plates are included in his treatise. Ex-libris Georges Roffavier. One plate missing (32 of 33). Some foxing. Rubbing to binding, minor damage to headpieces.
