First edition with 16 woodcuts, most of them full-page, of this judicial manual for civil proceedings, a complement to the author's other major treatise, Praxis rerum criminalium (1554).
A Flemish jurisconsult, Josse de Damhoudère (1507-1581) was financial advisor to Charles V and Philip II for over 30 years.
Handwritten ex-libris on title, some crossed out, and handwritten ex-libris of a doctor of law dated 1702 at the bottom of a flyleaf. Some old underlining.
Light spotting and foxing to a few leaves. Small wormholes at the bottom of several leaves. Minor rubbing to binding (hinges and corners).
