First edition of this book devoted to the funeral services of King Louis XIV (1643-1715) held in Seville before the city's French community on November 27 and 28, 1715. The first part lists all the permissions issued by the Andalusian capital's ecclesiastical authorities to organize the solemn funeral of one of Europe's greatest monarchs. This is followed by a detailed description of the funeral monument erected for the occasion in the church of Seville's great Franciscan convent, and a transcription of the sonnets, dizains, huitains, epigrams and mottoes that cover it. The funeral sermon, delivered by Brother Blas Antonio Alvarez, occupies the second part, followed by the Cantos lugubres. Very carefully printed, with two attractive title pages, each decorated with a typographic frame. Non-missing transverse tear to folio B1, wetness on second board.
