[LE JEAN]. Introduction to the revolution in the Netherlands, and to the history of the United Provinces. S.l.n.n. [Paris, Claude-François Simon], 1754. 3 volumes in one in-12, red morocco, triple gilt fillet, different coats of arms in the center of the boards, spine decorated with a repeated coat of arms, interior roulette, gilt edges over marbling (Period binding). First edition. Very fresh binding, with the coats of arms of the eight United Provinces on the first cover and the Grand-Pensionnaire's emblem on the second. The Grand-Pensionnaire, Holland's highest official, collected votes, directed diplomacy and oversaw the administration of the finances of the United States. In 1754, this office was apparently held by Pieter Steyn (or Steen). Period handwritten bookplate on title C. R. Jardel.
